Anglesey Abbey is closely connected to Cambridge because it’s only about 15 minutes driving distance from Cambridge. What is strange about Anglesey Abbey is the word “abbey”. Judging by the name alone you expect Aglessey to be some ruins of an old Abbey. However, it’s far from the truth.
The English country side is beautiful. Driving away from a major city like Cambridge will give a great surprise when driving through the countryside and stoping in a much smaller town like Ely. When visiting a major tourist attraction, most people only see the “big” things. It’s understandable because not everyone has the luxury of spending a lot of time in a great place. The small village of Houghton in Cambridgeshire, England is a typical small old English village full of personality and charm. Boasting a few old thatched roof cottages and an old village pub, Houghton will make you feel very British all of a sudden as you walk through the village.
